Project Synopsis:
The new Health Sciences and Human Services building will be the first structure on the College of Southern Idaho’s soon to be developed 80 acre north campus. The building will provide the necessary space to allow for the continued growth of the College’s burgeoning healthcare department. This innovative facility will have dedicated spaces for many programs including Dental, EMT/Paramedic, Addiction Studies, Nursing (CNA, RN and LPN), Medical Assisting, Radiologic Technology, Surgical Technology, and Workforce Education. Support spaces to these programs include eight general classrooms, three lecture halls, two computer rooms, simulation training spaces, and facility offices. This project is being delivered to the State of Idaho’s Division of Public Works via a Design-Build Contract. The building’s original Request for Qualifications did not dictate any aspects of sustainable design, however, over the course of programming the project representatives of the College’s Administration and Faculty, the State of Idaho, and the Design-Build team collectively committed to pursue a LEED Gold certification The site planning and placement of the parking and facilities are sensitive to future adjacent structures and community development, as well as allowing for efficient expansion and renovation to the building. Approximately 300 new parking spaces and a variety of outdoor spaces including outdoor classroom amenities are accommodated within the site. The landscaping is designed as a community resource, featuring water efficient plantings conducive to the high desert conditions of the Twin Falls Area.
